Processing of the 2nd competition phase and finalists with OX2 Architekten GmbH und mÜcke The basic concept of the master plan for the inner city of Bad Godesberg specifies a broad view of the inner city. The area between Godesburg in the north and Theodor-Heuss-Straße in the south, as well as the areas along Kurfürsten-Allee in the west and the quarters along the railway line in the east are designated as the so-called KERNSTADT. These areas surround the largest property in the city - the spa gardens - as an open, green center and meeting point for all the surrounding quarters and neighboring districts of Bad Godesberg. free space The design focuses on emphasizing and strengthening the connection between Godesburg in the north and the spa gardens in the south of the city center. The central axis is characterized by generous and accessible urbanity - the partially existing functions will be redistributed and supplemented in order to expand the possibilities of use of the city center for the cultural and creative industries, as well as contemporary room concepts for linking the living and working areas. In the middle of the connection, the Neue Theaterplatz is created, which can be used for festivals and other cultural events, while the old Theaterplatz has a new function - an "urban dining room" in the form of outdoor dining and a stay without the need to consume. In the south, the axis flows into the “Kurparkterrasse”, the steps of which extend into the water and at the same time offer space for the audience of the water stage. Temporary seating platforms can be set up for larger events. In both directions, the spa park terrace extends along the city / water border to a spa park boulevard, which would be expanded into a “community street” in the sense of “shared space”. At the Fronhof, together with the Fronhofer Galerie, new shopping opportunities are being created, while to the south of St. Mary's Church, the “Apple Tree Square” is a quiet place to linger. In the direction of Theaterplatz and Koblenzer Straße, the offers focus on innovative, owner-managed business concepts on the ground floor and partly on the first floor (concept stores, regional specialties, services in the health & care sector, manufactories) and strengthening of the residential offers on the upper floors. Along the connection Godesburg - StadtPodest - Theaterplatz - in the direction of Kurpark Boulevard, there are attractive gastronomic concepts on the ground floor and partly on the first floor, as well as cultural and care offers and the strengthening of the residential offers on the upper floors. The quieter side streets will also be upgraded as part of the redesign and used as areas for outdoor catering as well as expansion areas for local supply-related retail, service and artisanal production that is compatible with urban space. The old course of Kurfürstenallee is used exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists, but also for users of other forms of micromobility. The garden in front of the Redoute gentrys together with the spa gardens and benefits from the location on the lake. The partially historical garden is gaining importance again as a western entrance to the spa gardens. The Citizens' Registration Office and the buildings along Kurfürstenallee are accessed via a “communal street” in the sense of “shared space”. In contrast, the Kurpark is flanked by a number of ParkVillas, which offer additional space for living and working. Guiding the access ring to the west in continuation of Friedrich-Ebert-Straße, across Elisabethstraße to Brunnenallee and then to Schertburgerstraße enables traffic to calm down in this core area.
