The idea for the design of the garden was to install a delicate texture of light and shadow and colors with the different effects of the changing seasons between the monumentality of the building and the stock of old trees surrounding it. The draft focuses on the contrast between paths and lawn soberly framed by perennial plants and invigorating plantings of colorful shrubs and trees producing alternating highlights with the change of seasons. The garden area is framed by “sculptures” of box and taxus topiary balls that are neatly trimmed, but produce movement in the overall picture. The “seasonal accents” are placed on the lawn and on the terrace, embedded within the framing geometry of the overall layout. In spring, the front garden is “illuminated” by white magnolias.
